1. Apple will launch an entry-level ‘budget’ price iPhone for tweenagers and emerging markets. New iPhone 5s will be a slight step up from the current model, but iPhone 6 will represent a huge leap in terms of design and features.

This will help Apple build market share while under increasing pressure from Android manufacturers Samsung, HTC etc. and will help drive iTunes and App Store revenues to new heights, allowing developers and publishers to reach new market segments and exploit relatively untapped demographics with new, targeted apps and services. It will also boost the firm’s share price and restore confidence in the leadership and roadmap of products. The entry level iPhone will come in a range of colours – and may even be called the iPhone ‘Nano’. As for price – expect a suitably ‘high end’ entry level price of around $169 or £129.

And what of the new iPhone? Reportedly a refresh of the current ‘longer’ model, the iPhone 5s will of course be faster (thanks to a super speedy A6X or even A7 processor) and feature an 8 mega-pixel camera that will support full 1080p HD video running at 60fps and some cool ‘Instagram-alike’ filter effects. However, don’t expect too much at this stage as the firm won’t be switching to the new ‘game changing’ radical design which will see the whole front of the device become a massive screen with no ‘home’ button until the ‘all-new’ iPhone 6 release – allegedly due in May/June 2014.

The iPhone 5s will feel lightning fast thanks to the new iOS7 update and will allow users to achieve error free multi-tasking and a much improved battery life, but don’t expect anything revolutionary in terms of a competitive full 1080p HD display or form factor/design – that will come next year.

Expect the iPhone 5s to ship some time in September.
